MTG Arena Event Deck: Heliod's Glory

Here’s my deck for the Festival: Heliod’s Glory event on MTG Arena. The event format is a Standard-like card pool (with some additional bans), a six card hand, and an Immortal Sun emblem.

The emblem:

  • Turns off planewalker loyalty abilities.
  • Draws you an extra card each turn.
  • Makes spells cost 1 less.
  • Gives creatures +1/+1.

This deck is built to maximize the impact of those effects. It uses lots of cheap artifact creatures, most of which can be cast for free with the emblem. Gingerbrute, for example, becomes a free 2/2 with limited evasion. All That Glitters becomes very powerful after you empty your hand of 0 casting cost artifact creatures. I had a game where I swung for 6 on turn 1!

For games that go longer, Mystic Forge lets you find more gas. Ugin provides additional card advantage and targeted removal (and makes even the slightly more expensive artifacts cheaper). If I had a playset of Ugin’s in my account, I’d probably run them all here and shave some of the Dreadful Apathies.
